BTh-studies from January 2013 onwards

Die Teologiese Seminarium are presently offering courses like the BTh in co-operation with the Baptist Theological College in Randburg.

 

 

Students may register for one of four courses:



The BTh (degree in Theology)


This four year course is aimed at Christian ministry .



Internal students


All our internal students (on-campus) are actually external students as far as BTC is concerned.

“Internal” students will register for 5 courses at the beginning of each semester for the duration of their studies at this Seminary. At the end of the current BTh-course students will have completed 40 courses, each worth 12 credits.

 

Distance students


Our students are given two years grace to complete each study year.

A First Year student, for instance, may register for three 1st Year subjects in the First Semester of Year 1, and for two 1st Year subjects in the Second Semester of Year 1. During Year 2 (s)he will register for the balance of the five subjects prescribed for each semester: the two remaining 1st Year subjects in the First Semester, and the remaining three 1st Year subjects in the Second Semester. The student is therefore granted 8 years to complete the BTh.

Both internal- and external students could receive a BTh worth 480 credits at the end of their forth year of study.





Diploma in Theology


“Internal” students will register for 5 courses at the beginning of each semester for the three years of their studies at this Seminary. At the end of the current Diploma course students will have completed 30 courses, each worth 12 credits.

Our students are given two years grace to complete each study year.

A First Year student, for instance, may register for three 1st Year subjects in the First Semester of Year 1, and for two 1st Year subjects in the Second Semester of Year 1. During Year 2 (s)he will register for the balance of the five subjects prescribed for each semester: the two remaining 1st Year subjects in the First Semester, and the remaining three 1st Year subjects in the Second Semester. The student is therefore granted 6 years to complete the Diploma.



The Certificate in Theology

This is a one-year course to the value of 120 credits. Students registering for the Certificate in Theology will register for 10 prescribed subjects: five in the First and five in the Second Semester.  The duration of this course is 1 year for fulltime students and 2 years for external (part time) students.

The student, for instance, may register for three 1st Year subjects in the First Semester of Year 1, and for two 1st Year subjects in the Second Semester of Year 1. During Year 2 (s)he will register for the balance of the five subjects prescribed for each semester: the two remaining 1st Year subjects in the First Semester, and the remaining three 1st Year subjects in the Second Semester.



Spiritual Enrichment


This course is offered to lay people in the congregation who would like to grow spiritually, or want to prepare themselves for better service in their church. Every year consists of:

There are new prescribed books every year. Students answer questions prepared for them in the form of an Assignment for assessing.
