Statement of Belief PDF Print E-mail

We believe the Bible to be the authoritative, inerrant Word of God, and that nobody can either have insight in this Word or gain any spiritual power in his life without the assistance of the Holy Spirit.

Sola Gratia: We believe that all we have was given us by grace through the death of Jesus Christ--the incarnate Word of God, fully man, yet fully God Ė on the cross. We believe that Jesus died on the cross so that we can live eternally with the Father, that He rose from the dead on the third day, and that He was seen by various of His disciples. We believe that Jesus ascended into heaven to be with the Father and to prepare a place for us. And lo, He is coming again soon to fetch us so that we will be with Him and share in His eternal glory.

Sola Fide: We believe that faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the only way of redemption, and that good deeds are the fruit testifying of such salvation.

Sola Scriptura: We proclaim the Word of God alone, because this is everything that is necessary for the salvation of souls. We will accept nothing that is against Godís Word.

Soli Deo Gloria: God doesnít share His glory, therefore we believe that all honour, praise and adoration is His alone.

Solus Christus: Christ is the perfect, all-sufficient offer given by the Father as payment for the sin of His children. Through Him we are now in a perfect relationship with the Father.

Baptist Principles

  • Jesus Christ is Head of His church.
  • The church is a group of believers, the body of Christ, that is fully autonomous in its function.
  • We believe in the baptism of believers in obedience to God, a sign of personal repentance and salvation, faith and regeneration. It is done by immersion, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • The local church: Each member has the privilege and responsibility to use his/her gifts and abilities to benefit the church as a whole. The local church consists of overseers, i.e. elders who are there to teach and to lead, and deacons that serve. Members appoint leaders under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, subject to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture.
  • The priesthood of all believers: Each Christian has free access to the Father through Jesus Christ our High Priest. We share with Him in His work of reconciliation by intercession through prayer, worship, faithful service and witnessing for Christ in season and out of season.
  • State and church are separate in that they differ in their respective natures and functions. The church is not to be identified with the state, and the church will therefore not be directed or controlled by the state. The church is responsible for preaching the gospel and for making known Godís will for all men, and for living according to His will.
